DUFF MCKAGAN Says New JANE'S ADDICTION Sounds 'Huge, Dynamic'

According to The Pulse of Radio, the newest member of JANE'S ADDICTION, VELVET REVOLVER and ex-GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan, told Spinner.com that things are going well since he joined the band earlier this year. He explained, "We recorded three songs a couple weeks ago and it sounds huge, dynamic. (We) went and played a couple of shows in Europe and it was really fun. I had a great time playing with Perry (Farrell, frontman). (They're) really good guys to travel with. I'm having a fucking blast."

McKagan was invited to join the band, which reunited for a third time in late 2008, after original bass player Eric Avery left the lineup for a second time.

McKagan says that Farrell offered him the job while the two musicians and their wives were having dinner, revealing, "At the end of dinner he said, 'So what are you up to?' I said, 'Well, I have (side band) LOADED working, writing songs.' He says, 'Well, that's kind of what I wanted to talk to you about, writing some songs. Would you be interested in coming in and checking it out?'"

JANE'S ADDICTION recently began recording its fourth studio album for a tentative early 2011 release, and McKagan says there is a need for new music from the group: "A lot of rock music right now is so paint-by-numbers. It's bland, really bland. I've heard some shit on the radio. I'm like, 'You gotta be fucking kidding me.'"
